The Department of Energy has recently made a decision to more closely align their programs to ISO 50001. The DOE launched an on ramp program called “50001 Ready” for companies to embrace the ISO 50001 standard. As a result, IEnMP made changes to the IEnMP certification offering.
The first change for IEnMP is to the name of the Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (CP EnMS) credential. The new name will be “50001 Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems” (50001 CP EnMS).
Secondly, a new 50001 CP EnMS exam is targeted to be released in the June 2018 timeframe. New applicants for the 50001 CP EnMS certification will be required to take the new exam. The new exam will include the following topics:
- Energy, Energy Efficiency, Statistics
- ISO 50001 EnMS concepts, business decision-making, internal audit
Questions related to Superior Energy Performance (SEP) Program will be offered through an on-line training course through Georgia Tech.
Existing CP EnMS certified persons will continue to be able to maintain their CP EnMS certification through February 2020 provided the recertification requirements are maintained.
