The following information applies to the Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (CP EnMS) Certification. The scope of which includes the following:
- Works with an organization to establish and/or maintain an energy management system that meets the requirements of ISO 50001.
- Works with an organization to establish an energy management system that meets ANSI MSE 50021.
- Works with an organization to integrate ISO 50001 with their existing management systems.
Certification to CP EnMS is sector-specific. Candidates must meet the sector-specific academic and experience requirements, and pass both the core examination and the sector-specific examination for the sector for which certification is being sought.
The CP EnMS Certification is ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 accredited.
IEnMP and its Advisory Board endorse the principles of impartiality, fairness and equal opportunity and commit to act impartially, fair and equitably in relation to its applicants, candidates and Certificants, including but limited to 1) applying its standards and requirements for examinations and certifications equally to all individuals regardless of age, race, religion, gender, national origin, veteran status or disability, 2) implementing its policies and procedures impartially and fairly, 3) not restricting certification based on undue financial or other limiting conditions, and 4) not allowing commercial, financial or other pressures to compromise impartiality in certification activities.
A one time application fee of $75.00 is required for processing your experience and compliance to the eligibility requirements.
The current examination fee is $595 which includes a CORE and Industrial sector-specific exam. The CORE exam alone is $350 and the Industrial sector-specific examination is $245. Exam Fees will be paid at the time of registration.
Individuals may file a complaint against a certification candidate or certified individual. The written complaint must include the stated complaint, relevant supporting materials, and the complainant’s day phone number, and email address if available.

Special arrangements shall be provided to candidates with a disability (as defined by Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act) who submit with their certification application, a written explanation of their needs along with appropriate medical documentation.
